Tuesday I walked via Broadmere Common and on to the Mill Steam and headed towards the Downslink. 13 Lapwings on the far right of the field and overhead a Red Kite circled.
On to the Downslink to the Heron nesting area, 3 Grey Herons, 3 Little Egrets and numerous Geese. Watching Lapwings flying off spotted a large bird of prey. The farmer from the farm opposite said I was lucky as the Marsh Harrier had just appeared. Didn’t identify this bird of prey but very likely it was the Marsh Harrier. Went on along the far side of the river, 3 Mute Swans and a Grey Heron on and around the overflow pond . Back round towards Rye farm various Tits, Blackbirds and Robins. (MS)
