Lots of lovely Redwings on the Downslink this afternoon. On my way back as the light faded, I spotted a female Teal waddling on the ice toward a patch of water. Lots of Pochard, Tufties and Teal plus four Mute Swans and a Grey Heron on the floods. A bit further along, a very large raptor, who was pursuing a bunch of Crows over the floods, sent all the other birds into a panic. I won’t say what I think it was because I am probably wrong. Let’s just say it would dwarf a Buzzard.

Along Sandy Lane, I spotted a partly leucistic Robin. Both outer tail feathers were white and some white on the body as well. I would have loved a photo of it but it flew into a garden before I could grab the shot. Always the way! (PB)
