Just a little late, but on Wednesday afternoon I went down to have a look at the floods around Rye Farm, which are very impressive but contained no wildfowl other than a few Mallard and a pair of Mute Swans. However, it was great to see and hear a couple of Song Thrushes in full song, while Blackbirds flitted along the hedgerows, a small flock of Fieldfares landed in a tree and Redwings darted over the tracks and walking back I heard the distinct rattle of a Mistle Thrush. Also, walking back up the track pass the ponds I was treated to great views of a Water Rail probing about in the mud, a treat to get prolonged views of this secretive bird. (MR)
