As I was sitting by the fishing lakes yesterday I could see the Canada Goose lying low on her nest I thought to myself that the eggs are due to hatch next week.  That is providing nothing untoward happens, there is still a group of up to nine Greylag and Canadian Geese hanging around the area, probably none breeding birds and they could cause problems as they have done so in the past.  Anyway as I was sitting and absorbing all about me, at the end of the lake I saw what appeared to be a black bird fly into the lower twigs of a willow, when I levelled up my bins it flew towards me, a Kingfisher.  It landed in the leafy twigs of another willow dived and then flew off, no chance of a photo.  Another delight was to see a pair of Grey Partridge, I have seen these on several occasions in the vicinity of the lakes and the surrounding fields but I wasn’t sure until I had a good view of them recently.
