A damp walk around the margin of the stubble yielded a surprise with a Snipe flying up from close to, I watched it calling and jinking away into the distance.  A few Skylark  were a joy to behold, one of my favourite birds.  The usual Partridge were keeping well into the middle of the field.  I made my way to the lakes and there I sat and watched the antics of the four Canada Geese.  They have driven away their foster Greylag sibling and now they are arguing amongst themselves, probably over nesting rights.  They often have a truce and come over to see if I have any tit-bits for them but I never do.  It was nice to see a couple of Collard Dove up a lakeside willow.  While sitting there I became aware of a rachety purring sound, I was a little nonplussed at first and then I thought frogs.  I have been looking out for them for some time now especially with others having frogspawn in their ponds already.  Now the males have arrived and are waiting to grab a plump female when they turn up.  As we wend our way home and through a hedge and the drizzle I captured an image of the displaced Greylag that thinks it’s a Canadian, it was up by Sue’s pond.
