Privacy Notice
Under the new General Data Protection Regulations we need to tell you what we do with the personal information that you have supplied to us.
Henfield Birdwatch is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal data. When you joined you gave us your name and address and email (where applicable) for the purposes of receiving newsletters and other information from us. These may be also be used for direct communication on group matters when relevant.
Your details are held by the Treasurer and are available to some other Committee members who need to communicate directly with members. However, we do not contact our members for marketing purposes, nor do we ever pass on your details to any other person or organisation unless you ask us to do so for some specific reason.
Email newsletters are sent via Mailchimp, a system which ensures that email addresses are not displayed. Their Privacy notice is https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/. Only the newsletter distributor has access to this service.
Your personal data is not used for any automated decision making or profiling. We keep your personal data for as long as your membership is active.
You have the right to see the personal data that we hold about you and the right to have any incorrect information amended. You also have the right to request that your personal data is erased, or to object to its processing, however we will no longer be able to communicate with you about your membership, or to provide you with a newsletter etc. You also have a right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you believe that your personal data has been misused.
Historical records from the Area and Garden Bird surveys in 1999, 2004, 2009 and 2014, which contain names, addresses, phone numbers and emails (where provided) of those who participated are held on a separate database by the committee member who organised the analysis of the survey data. None of these details have been, o r will be, used for any other purpose.
