Our speaker,Terry Hallahan, is an ornithologist, and a leader of the Sussex Barn Owl Study group, which rings and monitors the species in the county.  He has a host of fascinating facts about Barn Owl history, life and current status in Sussex.

    SAVING THE STONE-CURLEW
    Friday 7th February 7.30 at the Henfield Hall
    “Saving the Stone-curlew” by Keith Betton.

    Stone-curlews used to breed widely on the South Downs, including in Sussex, but numbers declined dramatically in the early part of the 20th century until they were all but extinct.  Keith is involved in the protection and conservation of the species, and will tell is what is involved and how they are now doing.
