Just as Mike was moaning about the lack of birds in the garden to entertain us during our coffee break this morning, a mixed flock of 20+ Blue Tits, 16-ish Long-tailed Tits, four Great Tits, one Coal Tit and two Goldcrests arrived. As we were watching them, a Sparrowhawk dive-bombed in (we couldn’t tell if he was successful as he crashed through the hedge very soon after arrival) and then a flock of 25-30 Lesser Redpolls flew over our heads, several of which settled in a nearby silver birch tree so we could watch them through the scope. Very nice! Oh.. nearly forgot to mention the Nuthatch..
15 minutes of nothing then 5 minutes of madness!
